Terra Cotta Warriers

July 2007 - Amélie and Graham meet 78 year old Yang Pei Yan at the site of the Terra Cotta Warriors in Xian, Shaanxi Province in China. Although Amélie was obviously not very impressed at the time, but when she is older I'm sure she will realise what a unique experience it was for us. Not only is Yang Pei Yan one of the few living farmers that first discovered the Terra Cotta Warriors back in March 1974, but he also doesn't allow his picture to be taken. We were only allowed because the Chinese were absolutely fascinated with Amélie, being such a fair and blonde baby (....just like a real doll, our Chinese Guide told us), but we had to be quick and that is why the picture is of such poor quality.

James Graham Leggate - Born 13th June 2009 in Duncraig, Western Australia. You always wonder what the second baby will be like, people tell you no 2 are the same and with Amelie being such a good baby, I have to confess we were a little worried. James was born with a tongue tie which made it very difficult to feed, so the first 4 weeks were quite challenging but once that was dealt with he was a completely different baby. He is so easy going and laid back, and a bit like Amelie when she was a baby, a happy smiley chappy. We have been very blessed having 2 good babies.

Graham has been getting more and more involved in his photography lately and has been putting out some good photos, one of which is this one of James over Christmas at 6 months old.

28th June 2008 we went to Neil Hawkins Park in Joondalup to feed the birds. There were Pigeons, Seagulls, Galahs, Rosellas, Kookaburras, and ducks which were all so friendly and Amélie loved it!

Don't let the Sheilas near the BBQ

Taken in November 2002 whilst living in Bolton, UK. It was a nice day so we decided to splash out on T-Bone Steak for £25!!! The guys were playing around with a computer and Nic & I decided we couldn't wait any longer and started the BBQ ourselves. The video starts shortly after we discovered where not to place a hot disposable BBQ!!!!

Benson

Benson (Benny Boy) Leggate - Born 19th September 2003 in Glen Forrest, Western Australia. Sadly died due to a congenital heart defect in August 2005. Benson was a Labradoodle, however due to his flat coat he did shed hair unlike his litter mate Bella who has the curly coat.

We've had Benson and Bella since they were 8 weeks old (Benson pictured above) but when they were 5 and a half months old we took them to the vet to be sterilised, which was when the vet discovered that Benson had a heart murmur and was therefore unable to anaesthetise him. They called in someone from Murdoch University and diagnosed him with Aortic Stenosis and didn't expect him to live beyond his 2nd Birthday. They couldn't tell us how he would die, whether he would deteriorate over time and we would have to put him to sleep at some point, or whether he would just pass away suddenly.

He had no symptoms at all, to look at, he was a perfectly fit and healthy dog, and we would mock the diagnosis as time passed and his 2nd Birthday drew closer. People would often stop and talk to us about the Labradoodle breed, and we would joke and say ".....he's only got 2 months left to live......" really not seeing it coming any time soon. However a few weeks before is 2nd Birthday he collapsed playing his favourite game and he passed away. We're glad that he wasn't in any pain, it all happened very quickly and he passed playing his favourite game, and now he has a place under a Magnolia Tree in our garden where we have buried his ashes.

Bella (Bear) Leggate - Born 19th September 2003 in Glen Forrest, Western Australia. She's a Labradoodle (Labrador x Standard Poodle) and she is such a beautiful dog with a very placid and laid back personality.

Unfortunately she hasn't had a good start to life, at 9 months old she was in Cottesloe Animal Hospital for 3 months having a Triple Pelvic Osteotomy in both hips due to hip dysplasia on both sides. On top of that she had Entropion of the eyelids in both eyes and had to have surgery to correct them.

I wanted to put some pictures on here to show Bella with a full winter coat and after she has been shaun for the summer. The picture below of Bella with her brother Benson, is the best I have with her very woolly, but has the hair around her eyes still shaved off.

Amélie Susan Leggate - Born 29th September 2006 in Duncraig, Western Australia. Amélie has Mummy and Daddy totally besotted, not to mention the grandparents, Aunties and Uncles!

She's a real happy little chappy, always smiling and chuckling, and she looooves the water, whether it's the bath or swimming!!!

Below are my favourite pictures of her as they show her cheeky personality, unfortunately they were taken with a mobile so they're not the best quality.

Susan Elizabeth Leggate - Born 27th April 1973 in East London, UK. Usual occupation is a Systems Engineer, but nowadays it's full time Mum changing nappies and making up bottles......but I wouldn't have it any other way.

Still wishing I looked like the pictured above taken in March 2003, but unfortunately I look more like the picture below most days!!!!!!

Graham William Leggate - Born 21st August 1971 in Mount Lawley, Western Australia, and working as a Freelance IT Consultant in Perth, WA.

First love, apart from his 3 beautiful girls at home (Amélie, Bella, and myself of course!), is his red Holden Monaro, which Graham refuses to trade in for a sensible family car!
