July 2007 - Amélie and Graham meet 78 year old Yang Pei Yan at the site of the Terra Cotta Warriors in Xian, Shaanxi Province in China. Although Amélie was obviously not very impressed at the time, but when she is older I'm sure she will realise what a unique experience it was for us. Not only is Yang Pei Yan one of the few living farmers that first discovered the Terra Cotta Warriors back in March 1974, but he also doesn't allow his picture to be taken. We were only allowed because the Chinese were absolutely fascinated with Amélie, being such a fair and blonde baby (....just like a real doll, our Chinese Guide told us), but we had to be quick and that is why the picture is of such poor quality.
